Expectations for Students

What We Expect of You

    • Stay connected. You may be stuck at home, but you don’t have to feel alone. Reach out to friends and family, and be sure to contact a teacher, counselor, or other HHS adult if you need to. Our first priority is your health and safety.

    • Each morning, you should check your Google Classroom classes and your school email. Make this a part of your daily routine.

    • If possible you should try to attend any Meet or Zoom sessions “live” at the scheduled time (see Weekly Schedule below). If not possible, you should try to watch the recording of the session at a later time.

    • You are expected to complete any assigned work, if possible. Students with conditions that prevent the completion of assignments should be sure to reach out to their teacher and/or school counselor.

What to Expect From HHS

  • You can expect to be assigned a maximum of 50 minutes of learning activities daily for each of your four classes on Monday through Friday. Assignments for the day will be posted by 5 pm the previous day via Google Classroom. These activities may be some combination of Meet or Zoom sessions, independent work, or both.

  • Each class will have two scheduled time slots in which the teacher will host Meet or Zoom sessions with the whole class. These sessions will be announced and posted by 5 pm the previous day, and will fit in the Weekly Schedule (next page).

Weekly Schedule

  • DSB times will be scheduled for you to get extra help, set up study groups, hold club meetings, meet with counselors, and participate in other optional activities. You are encouraged to consider participating in DSB activities, but it is not expected or required.

  • You may choose to work on independent work anytime in the morning, afternoon, or evening, as best fits your family commitments and other personal factors.

  • Teachers will record new assignments as "collected" or "incomplete.” These assignments will contribute toward a Pass/Fail grade for any courses that finish at the end of Term 4 (Semester 2 classes or Term 4 classes).

  • End of course grades will be either traditional letter grades or Credit/No Credit, depending on when the course was scheduled to end.

    • Courses earning a Pass/Fail will not be included in a student’s GPA/QPA.

    • You will begin following your Term 4 schedule on April 27. This will mean at least two weeks of remote learning in these classes before a possible return to school. If the district were to make changes to April vacation or the last day of school, this might result in alterations to some of the dates mentioned above.

    • There will be no traditional final assessments/exams given for T3 and T4 . Final grades will be calculated as if these assessments were “Exempt.”
