Music after High School

I hope this email finds you well and warm during this hectic time of the year. As students have discovered their ILMEA placements in All-State and Honors, we want to congratulate those who were selected and all who auditioned. It is a great aspiration to be accepted and a big accomplishment for those invited. 

At Illinois Wesleyan University, we want to show those at the upper level of Illinois youth musicians that we are impressed by their success and hope they'll consider continuing their musical journey with us at IWU, should they choose to study music. For any incoming Music Major who placed in All-State level ensembles at any point in their high school career, we will offer $15,000/year for their studies. If the student musician is placed in Honors level ensembles, we increase that scholarship to $25,000/year. For incoming musicians who are not majoring in music, we offer a $1,000 scholarship and waive their private lesson fee.

When a student receives this initial scholarship but then chooses to come audition for our excellent faculty, there is a possibility to receive additional talent-based scholarships per their audition including a limited number of Director's Scholarships for excellence in music ($50,000/year). We hope to have your enthusiastic students join us in the next chapter of their journey. 

While at IMEC, for any student who stops by the IWU booth #357, we will have small cards that share this scholarship information and further steps to apply, audition, and visit. We encourage anyone who was placed in All-State or Honors to stop by to receive what they have earned! It's also a great way to meet our faculty, ensemble directors, and alumni.
