Patrick Maag

District Fine Arts Department Chair

Mr. Maag earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Illinois State University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. He began teaching at Hinsdale South  in 2009 and was previously the Director of Bands at Waukegan High School. He became the Fine Arts Department Chair at Hinsdale South in 2014 and the District Fine Arts Department Chair in 2019. Mr. Maag was the Staff Member of the Year at Hinsdale South in 2017. Mr. Maag lives in Des Plaines with his wife Jessie, and their three children.


Erica Gallermo

Choir Accompanist

Ms. Gallermo graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Music in Keyboard Performance, and she has been the piano accompanist at Hinsdale South High School since Fall 2024. She previously worked In South Korea as an English teacher, and she enjoys writing songs and singing as well as producing music as a hobby.

Matthew Goeke

Band Director

Mr. Goeke earned a Bachelor of Music from Lawrence University in Trumpet Performance and Education and an M.M.ed. from VanderCook College in Chicago. He began teaching at Hinsdale Central  in 2011 and previously taught band, choir and guitar in western Minnesota after directing bands at ORR High School in Chicago. He was the recipient of the Searcy “Teacher of the Year” Award and recognized at New Day Church in Chicago. Mr. Goeke lives in Glen Ellyn with his wife Meghan, and two daughters.

Chris Gumban

Mr. Gumban graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Music Education, and he began teaching at Hinsdale South In 2019. Prior to Hinsdale South, he was appointed the Assistant Director of Bands at Metamora Township High School in Peoria, Illinois where he directed the concert, marching, and pep bands and taught guitar and world drumming. He had the honor of conducting the Wind Ensemble at the Illinois SuperState Band Festival in May of 2019. Mr. Gumban currently works with Hinsdale South's Choirs, Competitive Acappella Groups, and coaches South's new Powerlifting Team.
