Welcome to the Role of a SASA! This resource is a series of online courses covers most of the information that school administrative services assistants, or SASAs, need to know to be successful in their jobs. It is designed for current SASAs, as well as school office assistants and account clerks who are thinking of becoming SASAs in the future.
The Board of Education recently approved a revision to the Strategic Plan. SASA Resources supports Goal 2 of the revised plan, which is Staff Success.
The purpose of SASA Resources are to:
Provide a standardized, comprehensive training program for SASAs and other school office staff who aspire to become SASAs;
Use current technology to ensure the efficient use of time for the participants and the trainers; and
Provide standardized procedures for common situations that all SASAs must handle.
The measurable objectives of SASA Resources include the following:
Decrease the number of audit findings in Student Activity Funds and procurement due to unclear or inconsistent expectations;
Decrease the number of BV-1s due to incorrect data entry of payments;
Decrease the number of requests for priority pay checks due to late payroll entry;
Decrease the number of employee overpayments due to backlogged leave balances or late notification of employees who have resigned or retired; and
Increase the number of applicants for vacant SASA positions at hard-to-staff schools.
We believe there will be many more positive outcomes, in addition to the objectives listed above.
The materials can confirm what you already know, serve as a resource for your own cross-training needs, provide a training environment for employees who are new to their positions, and provide an opportunity to give feedback so we can continually improve the training materials.
