In this module, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the role that the SASA with regards to processing new hires at the school level. While OHR's Recruitment Unit, the Personnel Regional Office, and the principal have most of the responsibility for recruitment, the SASA needs to understand the recruitment processes for various types of employees to be able to (1) support the principal and (2) to respond to inquiries from school staff and the public regarding the hiring process.
Know the differences between recruitment processes for certificated teachers, substitute teachers, educational officers, and various kinds of casual positions.
Understand the difference between internal and external applicants.
Know how to direct a potential applicant to the DOE’s recruitment website.
Identify the application forms used for various kinds of casual positions.
List tasks a SASA can perform to support the principal in the recruitment process for various types of positions.
Identify the recruitment reports available in eHR.
