In this module, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the separation process. When an employee leaves DOE employment, there are many administrative tasks that must be completed. This learning module includes a checklist of these tasks for school employees. The most important task for the SASA is the submission of current leave balances to the DOE Payroll Unit on Form G-2, although this is not the only task for the SASA.
Know the differences between separation, termination, retirement, transfer, and resignation.
Know what steps the SASA and/or the employee’s supervisor should take when a school employee says they plan to leave the DOE.
Know how to refer the employee to information about the Post-Separation Vacation Pay Deferral Program.
Know when and to whom to submit the G-2 form.
Know what steps the SASA and/or the supervisor must take after a school employee’s last day as a DOE employee.
Know the process for an employee who is terminated for cause or due to a performance deficiency.
Know when an employee should attend a pre-retirement workshop.
