Welcome to the Role of a Secretary! The course material for SASA Resources is being developed by a team of secretaries and other state office staff. The state staff are responsible to update the materials as things change, such as current fiscal systems being replaced with new systems, or new procedures being established
The Board of Education recently approved an update to the DOE Strategic Plan. SASA Resources supports Goal 2 of the plan, which is Staff Success. Within that goal is Object 2b, stating that "Training and professional development for all DOE employees supports student learning and schools improvement."
The purposes of the SASA Resources are to:
Provide a standardized, comprehensive training program for secretaries and other office staff who aspire to become secretaries;
Use current technology to ensure the efficient use of time for the participants and the trainers; and
Provide standardized procedures for common situations that all secretaries must handle.
The measurable objectives of SASA Resources includes the following:
Decrease the number of audit findings in procurement due to unclear or inconsistent expectations;
Decrease the number of BV-1s due to incorrect data entry of payments;
Decrease the number of requests for priority pay checks due to late payroll entry;
Decrease the number of employee over payments due to backlogged leave balances or late notification of employees who have resigned or retired.
We believe there will be many more positive outcomes, in addition to the objectives listed above.
