Another major topic that we'll study in Year 8 is on migration and how it has helped shape and impact Britain. We'll look at various groups of migrants, including African, Jewish, Irish, Indian and Caribbean, as well as post-WWII migration from within the British Empire, which will naturally focus on Windrush.
A study of the British Empire and its shameful links to the slave trade comes next. We have a look at the growth of the British Empire and, to a greater depth, the slave trade triangle between Britain, Africa and the USA. This includes the likes of the Middle Passage and life on the plantations.
