Our first major topic in Year 7 is on the Battle of Hastings in 1066. We look at the circumstances leading up to the battle and the reasons for William's victory. As always, BBC Bitesize is an excellent source of information on the topic:

Our next major topic of Year 7 is the ever-popular Tudors. This includes a look at Henry VII and Bloody Mary, but the main focus is on Henry VIII and his second daughter, Elizabeth I. We examine the former's break from the Catholic Church and his numerous wives, while the latter includes a look at her Middle Way with religion, the marriage question and the Spanish Armada.

In our final topic, students have a look at the first Americans. This involves a study of Christopher Columbus and his so-called Voyages of Discovery, before moving on to an introduction on the first Americans, how these tribes lived and why they lived so differently. It also encompasses work on why these peoples died out and whether, in bringing the study forwards in time, Black Lives Matter protesters are justified in pulling down statues of people like Columbus.
