Photos from Linggo ng Wika Celebration Live Session
Last August 26, 2021, the students and teachers of Holy Family Montessori celebrated the Linggo ng Wika by doing some activities such as BigSayAwit, MAKATAlino, Larawan sa Nagdaang Panahon, and Paglikha ng Poster. The winners of the said activities were announced live via Google Meet.
On the 26th day of August 2021, Holy Family Montessori of San Jose, Batangas, Inc. honored the celebration of National Language Week (Linggo ng Wika) with the theme “Filipino at mga Katutubong Wika sa Dekolonisasyon ng Pag-iisip ng mga Pilipino.” The celebration’s theme is spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd) to enhance and commemorate the use of the Filipino language.
The administration of Holy Family Montessori came up with some exciting activities for the students, namely BigSayAwit, MAKATAlino, Larawan sa Nagdaang Panahon, and Paglikha ng Poster. These activities aim to make the students further realize the essence of Filipino language as the light and key to strengthen our nation. Although English is primarily used in our online classes, we should always keep in mind that the Filipino language is one of the identifications we have with regards to our cultural heritage and sense of Filipino pride.
In relation to the special programs prepared by the teachers, the students from each grade level were grouped and assigned to different competitions such as the BigSayAwit, which is a combination of bigkas, sayaw, and awit, hence the name. The composition must be originally created by the students and checked by their teacher in order to qualify for the contest.
Another by-group event prepared for the program is the MAKATAlino, similar to an oral recitation but facilitated on Google Meet and with a specific time limit. Moreover, the remaining two activities are done individually. The third competition is called Larawan Ko Sa Nagdaang Panahon, where students must take pictures of themselves wearing traditional Filipino clothes while the last program is a poster making contest, following the theme provided by the DepEd.
