Dear families,
Welcome to another school year! I am excited to serve as an EIP teacher at Impact Academy. Together, students and I will dive into academics, with a focus on math and reading. We will develop the skills of critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, creativity, and teamwork as we close achievement gaps and accelerate within a grade level.
I want to take a moment to tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. The USA became my new home in 1992. I hold a Masters of Science in Education with a focus on Literacy and Reading from Walden University. My math instruction is enhanced through a math endorsement that supports math instruction in K-6 classrooms. My husband serves at FBC McDonough as Minister of Music and Senior Adults. Our three oldest children are either in college or pursuing a career. Our youngest son is a senior at LGHS. As a musician, I love playing the piano and listening to a variety of music. You will often find me reading professional books, painting landscapes, and keeping in touch with my family.
As we work together this year, students will grow as readers and mathematicians! We will use strategies and tools to support their thinking and problem-solving skills. I welcome your participation and feedback as our learners excel throughout the year.
With fondest regards,
Mrs. Kuykendall (Mrs. K.)
I have been teaching since 1996 and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia College and State University and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University. I have been a part of the Henry County School system for 22 years.
I graduated from college, had a birthday, and married Bryan Nix all during the summer of 1996 Olympics -Atlanta! We have twin daughters, Katherine and Elizabeth, who attend Ola High School. When I am not teaching I am spending time with family, trying out new recipes, decorating, traveling, or scuba diving.
I believe in treating each student as an individual learner and will work hard to further your child’s education by providing a stimulating and supportive learning environment.
