Art by Aubrey Slater
Each cluster in Henry County Schools will host an art show at the McDonough Performing Arts Center (37 Lemon St, McDonough, GA 30253). The shows are organized by the cluster's fine arts department chairs and art teachers. They select artwork that the students begin working on at the beginning of the year. Some of these bright young artists have pieces that are shown around the county and state, represent GHP nominees, All-State Artists, and more. This artwork represents a variety of styles and media inspired by other artists, literature, culture, and the artists' lived experiences. These pieces can be viewed by the public during the operating hours of the performing arts center. The gallery is located through the main entrance and lobby of the PAC. If you have any questions about this or your students are interested in having their art shown, please contact the art teacher at the student's school.
Any artwork shown as part of a Henry County Schools art show has to be shown with permission from the student artist and a parent/guardian. The proper form to give permission for artwork to be shown can be obtained from any visual art teacher in HCS. It should be signed and attached to the back of the artwork and clearly indicate the correct orientation of the artwork.
