IB Exam Information
What are IB Exams?
During the junior and senior years of the IB program, students take exams in IB subject-area classes. The scores of these exams go toward earning the internationally recognized International Baccalaureate Diploma in addition to the traditional high school diploma.
Can I earn college credit through IB exams?
Potentially, yes! Acceptance of IB exam scores for college credit varies between institutions, so we strongly recommend researching particular schools of interest and their policies.
What are the requirements to earn the IB Diploma?
In order to earn the IB Diploma, students must:
Earn at least 9 points from 3 Standard Level (SL) Exams
Earn at least 12 points from 3 Higher Level (HL) Exams
Score no 1s on any exam
Score no more than two 2s on any exams
Score no more than three 3s on any exams
Earn a score of "D" or higher on both Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and the Extended Essay
Complete all CAS Requirements
How many IB exams will I sit for each year?
During the junior year, students may sit for up to two IB exams at the Standard Level (SL). These courses include IB Psychology SL and IB Mathematics SL. Students sit for the remainder of their IB exams during the senior year.
