International Baccalaureate

J.R. Tucker High School

IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate Programme aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.  To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.  These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and life long learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program has been in place at J.R. Tucker High School since 2011. This rigorous, holistic program prepares students to become active citizens capable of engaging with a global society. Students take courses emphasizing interdisciplinary problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking. Alongside academic coursework, students plan, take part in and reflect on extracurricular experiences that are invaluable for both personal development and the gaining of real-world experience.
