Jan Hampton created Private Teacher List
Private lessons is a great way to build skills and confidence in young players. Typically lessons start with 30 minutes one-on-one per week. Teachers can individually address student's needs and interests better than in a group/class setting. Students and parents should commit to regular practice before starting lessons to make the instruction worthwhile. Often teachers will work on both music from class, but also solo music that meets the student's interest. It is important to ask about the teacher's experience and training as a performer as well as a teacher. Some private teachers have recitals once or twice a year.
