What will I study?
The study of History is much more than the study of the past. Its study allows for the development of fundamental skills that are transferable to any profession. Employers value the skills developed in the study of History: analysis, reading, debating, thinking, writing and assessing different sources.
Course Content
History is a thought-provoking subject which stimulates academic discussion and debate, enabling students to develop and broaden their analytical skills. You will develop an understanding of how the past has been interpreted and represented through the study of political, economic, sociological and archaeological concepts and arguments. The A Level qualification is a full-time course achieved over a two year period. • HIS1H: Tsarist Russia, 1855-1964 (40%) • HIS2M: Wars & Welfare: Britain in Transition, 1906-1957 (40%) • HIS3: Historical Investigation (3,500 word essay) (non-exam assessment) “Religious change in Tudor times” (20%)
Progression
History is a very well respected subject. It helps develop the analytical skills which are respected and desired by universities and employers in law, journalism, politics, teaching, government and heritage. You don't just have to become a history teacher
