Play a Board game/ Home Made board game
Home made board game idea-Draw out a number of spaces on a piece of paper for each of your counters to go on. You can decide how many spaces you want- more spaces will mean a longer game. Each player will take turns rolling the die, naming the number rolled, and removing the corresponding number of counters along their path. The first to remove all their counters is the winner. (Counter Ideas- cereal or marshmallows, coins, buttons, LEGO pieces) Game board example below
Writing- What is your favorite ocean animal? Have your child draw a picture of their animal
***JK and SK writing example below***SK - Have your child write in sentence form about their picture. (i.e., My favourite ocean animal is ______because........)
JK- Have your child label their ocean animal or offer them a sentence to copy down. (i.e., My favourite ocean animal is ............
If this seems difficult you can use a highlighter and write the sentence for them to trace over . Have them write the popcorn words on their own. (Example of this below)
After creating their sentence, have them read it back to you. If they are in JK have them place their finger under each word as they read it back to you.
