1. Look your best, feel your best.
There’s no better way to start your year off than looking your best. It may seem like a small adjustment, but looking your best will cause you to have more confidence as you stride through your school year.
It also encourages an everyday routine that can bring you enjoyment! When you wake up–sometimes it feels like a chore, or something you have to do to start the day, but with something to look forward to it becomes more than that.
2. Don’t have FOMO, go to all events!
Everyone has experienced FOMO–or the fear of missing out–at some point in their lives. The amazing thing about high school is that it happens throughout the year, so you have things to look forward to!
Whether it be homecoming, powder puff, battle of the classes—or for the upperclassmen–prom, going to all of these events can give you something to be excited about.
3. The earlier the work is done, the earlier the party starts!
Get your work done on time, or even early! I’m sure there are many people that rely on last minute planning and procrastination, but getting your assignments done quickly and efficiently will allow you to have more time to talk to friends, do recreational activities, or even attend practices without worries!
4. Don't be afraid to socialize, and spread your social circle.
I know that socializing can sometimes be hard, especially for the freshman entering a new environment such as high school, but it’s worth it! No matter what grade level you are, socializing with new people will change the way you see school drastically.
Talk to classmates, those in passing hallways, on the bus, and you’ll slowly see that there are so many people in this world with interesting personalities and viewpoints! Opening up to these people allows for you to not only have new friends in classes, but also makes you more comfortable in your own social abilities!
5. Join clubs that interest you.
Lastly, join any club that you have interest in! Clubs are not only a great look at your college applications–but they can also become the best part of your week.
At High Tech there are a variety of clubs from language, culture, and entertainment so that you can join a space where you have a mutual interest. By doing this you are surrounded by like-minded people, who have the same passions that you do. Not only that, but you also are able to have a designated space to practice your interest in craft, with mentors to help you improve!
