Francis Gary powers crisis
Francis Gary powers was a a CIA/AIR FORCE pilotĀ that was on a c.i.a and air force joint mission for reconnaissance over the Soviet Union during the cold war. one day when he was doing a fly over the soviet union to take pictures in the U-2 Dragon Lady. On May 1st 1960 Francis Gary Powers was shot down by a S-75 Dvina missile because he was in Soviet airspace. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was released in 1962 instead of serving his 10 years because he was traded for a soviet spy, Rudolf Abel
