In order to help our school streamline our contact tracing procedures, we are asking that parents provide information regarding their students' vaccination status.
Please take a moment to complete this form, if you feel comfortable doing so. Unless we can confirm your students' vaccination status through ImmuNet, we will need to assume that students for whom a response has not been submitted are unvaccinated.
Please submit one form per student. At this time, we only need the information for the student(s) who attend Longfellow Elementary School.
Parents/guardians should keep their children home if they are experiencing symptom(s) associated with any communicable disease, including COVID-19. In addition, parents/guardians are to perform the following COVID-19 health check every day before the student leaves home.
A child should NOT come to school with any of these symptoms:
Fever of 100.4 degrees or higher
Sore throat
Cough
Difficulty breathing
Diarrhea or vomiting
New onset of severe headache (especially with fever), or
New loss of taste or smell
For persons with chronic conditions such as asthma, the symptoms should represent a change from baseline. Children exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 may not attend school.
Please visit the HCPSS website for additional information on self screening, contact tracing and quarantining procedures. Additionally, visit the HCPSS website for more information on the 2021-2022 school year and answers to frequently asked questions.
Dear Parents,
The fifth annual Read-A-Thon will begin soon at Longfellow Elementary School. It is a wonderfully easy fundraiser that really helps our school. All your child has to do is read! You and your child will need to record the amount of minutes each day that your child spends reading. At the end of the Read-A-Thon time period, the minutes will be totaled. To share this exciting event with family and friends, the students can collect donations for participating in the Read-A-Thon. Several prizes will be awarded for reading. It will be fun, fun, fun for everyone!

Every February, people in the United States celebrate the achievements and history of African Americans as part of Black History Month. Each Friday, we will host a Moment in Black History through our newsletter. A video will be shared each week that is narrated by a parent, grandparent, guardian, or another member of our LoES community.
This weeks video features Maggie Lena Walker, narrated by L. Conette Burney, Parent of 5th & 4th graders at Longfellow Elementary.
After viewing the video have a discussion as a family about the moment in history and how the person is an influencer in today's world.
Students this week are gearing up with classroom KINDNESS efforts, in anticipation of National Random Acts of Kindness Day on Thursday, February 17, 2022.
Students can also choose to Double Up on KINDNESS by participating in an (optional) individual RAK challenge.
Be sure to complete a submission page by 2/22/22 to have your name celebrated on the heart display at school.
