The following screen shots would show you the steps required for your Sec 3 Options Registration.
The registration page can be accessed on the ISP portal.
Look for the "Sec 3 Options" tab under "Curriculum".
Before you begin, you would be asked to read through an important notice which will serve as a declaration and an agreement to the terms and conditions stipulated for the Sec 3 Options Registration Exercise. You will be asked to enter your contact information.
Once you have filled in the contact details, click the 'Close Window' button at the end of the page.
You will then proceed to the Option Form from the left menu.
You will be asked to declare if you are currently taking Art Elective Programme (AEP), Music Elective Programme (MEP) and/or 3rd Language in Secondary 2. You will also be asked to declare if you wish to continue with 3rd language in Secondary 3 and 4.
This will impact the allocation of Biology, Computing and/or talent programme to you. [Refer to FAQ]
Choose whether you wish to be considered for a talent programme.
If you choose "Yes", proceed to the next question, and submit up to 6 subject combinations that are associated with the respective talent programme.
The summary table for the full range of subject combinations can be accessed here.
If you choose "No", you may proceed to the next section to choose your subject combinations for IP.
In the example below, choosing BSP with CH + LE means the student will be offering all the standard subjects associated with BSP (EL, HC, MA, AM, SS, CSC) and chose to offer only one science subject, Chemistry (CH) + Literature in English (LE) as the Humanities Elective.
If you choose "HP with.... + CSC" or "SMTP with ... + CSC" means you wish to be considered for the HP-BSP or SMTP-BSP Dual Track programme.
If you choose "SMTP with... + LC" means you wish to be considered for the SMTP-CLEP Dual Track programme.
All students need to indicate their preference for humanities elective (HE), sciences (Chemistry + Physics or Chemistry + Biology) and if they wish to offer Biology or Computing as an additional subject by selecting the appropriate options from the drop-down list.
The summary table for the full range of subject combinations can be accessed here.
You need to select a minimum of 3, and a maximum of 6 options. [Scroll to the bottom of this page for examples]
Do note that the Humanities department may not be able to allocate the first preference to every student due to constraints in resources.
Students with special requests (e.g. to drop Biology if offered talent programme) should write such requests in the "Any other comments/instructions" text box at the bottom of the form. Please write concisely.
You will also be asked to state your preferred allocation priority - if you wish to priortise the choice of humanities elective or science combinations/additional subjects for allocation of subjects to you.
In the selected example below, IP with CH + PH + GE means the student has chosen a combination of the standard core subjects for IP (EL, HC, MA, AM and SS) and chose to offer the Chemistry (CH) and Physics (PH) sciences combination and Geography (GE) as the Humanities Elective.
You are allowed to amend your options as many times as you wish during the registration period. However, only the last successful registration will be taken into consideration after the deadline.
A student who wishes to read Geography (GE) with Biology (BI) can indicate his choices as such:
Choice 1: IP with CH + PH + GE + BI (Humanities Elective = GE, BI is additional subject, additional subject eligibility criteria is imposed)
Choice 2: IP with CH + BI + GE (Humanities Elective = GE, BI is a core science subject, instead of Physics - no additional subject eligibility criteria is imposed)
Choice 3: IP with CH + BI + HI
etc.
A student who wishes to read Biology (and meets the criteria) regardless of the Humanities Elective (but his first choice HE is History, followed by Geography and Literature in English) should indicate
Choice 1: IP with CH + PH + HI + BI
Choice 2: IP with CH + PH + GE + BI
Choice 3: IP with CH + PH + LE + BI
Choice 4: IP with CH + PH + LC + BI
etc.
It is clear from his choices that he wishes to offer Biology as an additional subject and his subject combination allocation will be prioritised by placing him in a class offering Biology if he meets the eligibility criteria (and allocating the Humanities Elective which he qualifies for).
A student who wishes to offer either Biology or Computing may indicate:
Choice 1: IP with CH + PH + HI + BI
Choice 2: IP with CH + PH + HI + CP
Choice 3: IP with CH + BI + HI
etc.
This combination of choices is read as giving higher priority to Humanities Elective (History) in his allocation.
Choice 1: IP with CH + PH + HI + BI
Choice 2: IP with CH + PH + GE + BI
Choice 3: IP with CH + PH + HI + CP
Choice 4: IP with CH + PH + GE + CP
etc.
This combination of choices is read as giving higher priority to additional subject (Biology) in his allocation.
