All Secondary 2 students are required to go through this option exercise (even if he does not wish to apply for any academic talent programme). During the option exercise, the applicant has to indicate the following:
Part 1: Application for Academic Talent Programme
Whether the applicant wishes to apply for an academic talent programme (and which programme and subject combinations permissible under the programme).
Part 2: Choice of Humanities Elective, and Biology or Computing as an additional subject
All students would have to indicate their 1st to 6th (at least three) choice of humanities elective and permissible subject combinations.
Students who are applying for academic talent programmes (Part 1) must still indicate their humanities elective and additional subject options (Part 2) in case the application for academic talent programmes is unsuccessful.
Allocation of the humanities elective is subjected to the student's subject combination choice (ranking of Choice 1, 2, 3, etc.) and his relevant humanities subject's score relative to the other applicants with the same choice rank.
Students will also be asked to indicate if they wish to prioritise their choice of Humanities Elective or Sciences Combination in the allocation process.
Note: Students may be transferred to other consortia due to the choice of their humanities elective or the additional subjects / academic talent programme (if applicable).
Upon the release of the allocation results, students must indicate on the registration portal if they wish to accept the offer or to submit an appeal.
Students who submit an appeal may be called up for an interview to consider their case in the month of November.
If the appeal is unsuccessful, students will remain in the original subject combinations / programmes allocated.
