Students are assessed throughout the school year to ensure quality and effective instructional goals for your child. Please ask to review your child’s reading, math and writing scores that are reviewed each semester. Portfolios, performance tasks, performances, presentations and quizzes are utilized as assessment tools. Hamilton County Schools has a benchmark exam each quarter in each core content class (English/Language Arts, Science, Math, Social Studies) that provides teachers data on what students need to move to the next level in their learning.
Promotion participation requires that students pass all core classes. All classes are a priority at our school and students will not progress into an advanced level class without satisfactory grades. Please regularly check your child’s progress and take advantage of opportunities for additional support such as WildCat Time before and after school as well as Saturday School.
1. Passing is based on the year’s average.
2. A minimum grade of 70 must be maintained in each subject.
3. With two failing grades, a student may be retained and may be eligible to attend summer school if it is offered.
4. With three or more failing grades, a student will not be eligible and must participate in virtual summer school at your own expense.
5. The principal has the final decision on promotion or retention.
