FALL SPORTS

Boys & Girls Cross Country (Grades 6-8) is about to begin! Students interested in joining the team should attend the Student Informational Meeting with Mr. Hazard on Thursday, September 5, from 3:00-3:20 PM, in Room 27. During this meeting, students will receive the required forms and information to join the team. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions and feel prepared. It's important that all interested students attend so that Mr. Hazard can determine an approximate number of potential teammates.

The Cross Country team practices will be held every Monday and Thursday from 3:00-4:00 PM throughout the season, with the first practice on Monday, September 9, from 3:00-4:00 PM. Once on the team, parents/guardians must complete the HVS Athletics Forms. Additionally, it is recommended that students and parents/guardians review the HVS Athletics Handbook. 

The first practice on Monday, September 9, has been CANCELLED due to the expected high temperature. Please plan on coming to the new official first practice on Thursday, September 12.

Girls Volleyball Tryouts (Grades 6-8) are happening during the week of September 9th in the Valley Gym. Once on the team, parents/guardians must complete the HVS Athletics Forms. Additionally, it is recommended that students and parents/guardians review the HVS Athletics Handbook. Please note: Students trying out for Girls Volleyball must attend both tryout dates. These tryouts are closed to spectators.

Boys & Girls Cheer Tryouts (Grades 6-8) are happening during the week of September 9th in the Valley MPR. Once on the team, parents/guardians must complete the HVS Athletics Forms. Additionally, it is recommended that students and parents/guardians review the HVS Athletics Handbook. Please note: Students trying out for Boys & Girls Cheer must attend both tryout dates. These tryouts are closed to spectators.

Boys Flag Football Tryouts (Grades 6-8) are happening on Wednesday, September 11, from 2:00-3:30 PM, with make-up tryouts on Thursday, September 12, from 3:00-4:00 PM, on the Hermosa Valley Field. Once on the team, parents/guardians must complete the HVS Athletics Forms. Additionally, it is recommended that students and parents/guardians review the HVS Athletics Handbook. Please note: Students trying out for Boys Flag Football only need to attend one tryout date.

Boys & Girls Surf (In-Water) Tryouts (Grades 6-8) are happening on Sunday, September 29, from 7:00-9:00 AM at the beach off 16th Street in Hermosa Beach. A Surf Team Application needs to be completed and emailed to Coach Vasquez at nvasquez@hbcsd.org or dropped off in the Valley Front Office by Wednesday, September 25. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Once on the Surf Team, parents/guardians must complete the HVS Athletics Forms. Additionally, it is recommended that students and parents/guardians review the HVS Athletics Handbook. Please note: No Zero Period Surf will be offered at this time.
