Undergraduate Chair & Faculty Instructor
Dr. Travis Idol is the chairperson of the NREM Undergraduate Committee. Dr. Idol
manages the undergraduate student body; including advising and well-being
supervises the department's peer advisors: NREM Undergraduate Leads
assigns students an NREM Faculty Advisor for specialization advising
All NREM students should choose a pathway by the end of their second year and an NREM Specialization during their third year of studies. Core courses NREM 220, 251, 301, and 302 will help you to decide, so try to take these courses in the first 2 years.
When you are ready to declare a specialization, make an appointment with Dr. Idol. You will discuss your specialization interests, choose an NREM faculty advisor, and discuss the next steps in your academic journey.
Because only your NREM advisor can approve specialization electives, you will want to declare your specialization before you begin taking upper division courses you would like to count toward this requirement.
