• Using a 3D printer, I created a keychain because I thought it would be cool to make something of my own. During this process, I learned how to design and create something that is both useful and interesting. It helped me understand how ideas can turn into real objects using technology. 

• The seven standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project connects most closely to the Global Collaborator standard because I am sharing my work with others and showing it to the world. 

• One challenge I faced during this project was not knowing the correct dimensions and lengths for my design. I overcame this by experimenting with different settings and tools, clicking around, and testing my ideas until everything fit together properly. 

• If I were given the chance to do this project again, I would change the color and improve the usability. I would want to make it more versatile so it could be used for more than just a keychain. 

• Hastings High School’s Career and Technical Education program offers many pathways, including Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming program because I used a computer to design and create my product. 

• My project also connects to careers in computer engineering because I used technology and digital tools to design something functional. This experience showed me how computers can be used to create real-world items.
