For the final unit in our 7th Grade Innovation and Design class, we will be creating a coded scenario in the coding engine online, known as Scratch. This project will include a scene played out initially, using lots of code in Scratch, which for me is a scene using the franchise from Nintendo, Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong himself finds a strangely-shaped banana, reaching out for it, when all of a sudden, his old nemesis King K. Rool shows up! He jumps on the" krool Kroc" himself and sends him packing while enjoying his new banana. The project thus far has been an Innovative Designer project, because I have to learn the mechanics of Scratch coding, and innovate to make the finished product. Also, I think it's been an empowered Learner project because I've had to learn to get a grip on how Scratch coding works to have a decent finished product. Below, I have the coding that I used for each of these characters in this order: DK, King K. Rool, and the star-shaped banana that they're after.
Next up, we will be animating a word. For this section of the project, we will pick any word, a name, a sport, something you like, etc. I chose the name of a company who has made many things that I dearly love-Nintendo. I will have each letter do something unique, and make it really pop. And now you can see the specific job each letter has, with this code.

Wow! What a ride! Now, speaking of rides, the next Scratch project is called; "Adventure on the High Seas". In it, we are to create a story about some creatures stuck on a boat on the sea. I again drew upon my vast and needlessly immense knowledge and passion for Nintendo franchises and made a project centered around Donkey Kong's Kremling Krew. They are a group of crocodilian bipedal pirates who are ruled by a king and are enemies of Donkey Kong. Fill disclosure, this franchise is obviously not mine. It is owned solely by Nintendo. In no way am I working with them. That'd be neat though. In my project, King K Rool and a group of his Kremlings are sailing on his ship, the Gangplank Galleon, towards Donkey Kong Island, and unrest has settled in among the group. The Krew accuses King K Rool of sending them on a wild goose chase and he kills one of them. Below are the codes used to bring this monstrosity to life.
Code for the Gangplank Galleon
Code for the Sea
Kode for King K Rool, the Kaptain.
Kode for the first Kremling.
Kode for the 2nd Kritter,
Code for their Cheese puffs
And that's it for the high seas! Next up, my Google logo project! During the duration of this penultimate project, we were to make our own version of the logo belonging to the beloved internet search engine, Google. In fact, you're probably reading this on Google right now. Anyways, the details are: were supposed to change the costume, or outward appearances, of all of the sprites spelling out, " G O O G L E ", and subsequently code them to perform unique actions to create a lively and animated scene. In the end, I ended up, as I'm sure you can guess at this point, drawing upon the vast amount of video-game themed knowledge stored in the echo-filled recesses of my mind. Each of the letters in the word Google is themed around a Nintendo character. Just as aforementioned in the above section, and as is probably obvious, the franchises that I use as bases for my projects in any of my pages here on my Site aren't mine or associated with me in any way, shape, or form, and are owned solely by Nintendo, who probably don't even know I or this page exist. Ahem. Anyways, below are listed the code of each letter in Google.
G1's code
O1's Code
O2's Code
G2's Code
L's Code
E's Code
And now for the final project in CS First: A partnership with the popular Cartoon Network show- The Amazing World of Gumball. I personally am a fan of the show to this day. During this project, we will create our own spin on the episode- The Signal, in which main characters Gumball and Darwin Watterson experience a glitch in the fabric of their reality and struggle to communicate this to their colleagues and each other. We will experiment with changing the pixelation effect of certain sprites in order to give the effect of a "glitch". For my project, I had Gumball and Darwin stand outside Elmore Elementary school, foreshadowing the events to come. Gumball then "Glitches out, scaring Darwin, and they go to their genius younger sister, Anais, who spouts sciency-sounding words before they all glitch out, with the screen playing the message; "Lost Signal". Here is the code used to make it happen.
Gumball's Code
Darwin's Code.
Anais's Code
Carrie's Code
Banana Joe's Code
Penny's Code
Something that I've learned throughout this large project is that coding is a very intricate, detailed, complicated thing to do. It's been a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. Something I would've done differently had I been put in the situation again, is that I would've asked earlier how to save data on my project to my computer. This project is ending up getting turned in very late because for the first several days of my project, I couldn't figure out how to save my project... due to my setbacks, I ended up turning this in like, two weeks late. Betcha that did wonders for my grade. Now, here are 25 things that you could do with this software:
1. Coding a story about Donkey Kong
2.Coding a story about The Legend of Zelda
3.Coding a story about Super Mario Bros.
4.Coding a story about Luigi's Mansion
5.Coding a story about Super Smash Bros.
6.Coding a story about Pokemon
7.Coding a story about Splatoon
8.Coding a story about a banana
9. Coding a story about two bananas
10.Coding a story about three bananas
11.Making a story about all three of the previous potassium-packed-potential stories and calling it the Banana Trilogy
12.Making a story about grapes
13.Coding a story about apples
14.Coding a story about cows
15.Coding a story about gorillas
16.Coding a story about people wearing ties
17.Coding a story about crocodiles
18.Coding a story about pirates
19.Coding a story about dogs
20.Making bad flash games
21.Coding a story about cats
22.Coding a story about tardigrades
