In Innovation and Design class, I will be coding a Micro:bit. A Micro:bit is a small screen with a square patch of LED lights, attached to a small battery container. One is able to put a code into the device to tell it what LED lights to turn on, when to do it, and in what order to do so. What that entails is plugging it into a computer, coding it with the hardware provided, and having it do something when you shake it. For our class's Micro:bit project, we are to have the Micro:bit play our name across its LED lights at the shake of the device. I also made a smile face that winks at the user for a bit of added charm. Mine says: T R I S T A N M :-) ;-) :-)
Also, Micro:bits have plenty of other practical uses-they're very versatile. I'll list a few of them.
1. They can be used to make a simple animation, like I did with my winking smiley face
2. They can be used to teach kids to make simple code
3. They can be used to write somebody an inventively packaged message
4. They can be used to have a fun pastime that is still educational.
5. They can be used to give younger kids an introduction to coding that isn't too challenging
6. They can be used to give children experience with programmable hardware
7. They can be used to write your name
8. They can be used to pass messages back and forth without anybody else hearing if you're kind of creepy
9. They can be used to draw small pictures frame by frame
10. They can be used to write down the entire script of the Bee Movie, starting with, "According to all known laws of aviation , there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground The bee, of course, flies anyway, because..."
11. To make a flashing heart shape
12. To make a name tag
13. To make smiley buttons
14. To make a spiral shape
15. To make a square
16. To make a triangle
17. To make a picture of a doggo
18. To write "MEOW"
19. To write "ACHOO"
20. To write the word "WHEEEE"
21. To write "I am running out of list entries"
22. To write "Seriously, I'm getting desperate"
23. To write "Oh no"
24. To write "Oh, finally"
25. To write "THE END"
