Images and Video:
Using my monitors, Delightex Edu, Oculus, my iPad, and my home laptop, I created a short game because I wanted to teach the lesson to not trust strangers. I did this by learning how to code on a new website and looking things up. I ended up with a game made with these materials on not trusting strangers.
During this process, I learned how to code more things, how to make a world on Delightex, how to make moving objects, and how to make scenes. I learned how to use the website Delightex Edu, and I learned how to code on it. I used these new skills to make my game.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to knowledge constructor because I watched some videos at home to get the coding right and read some tutorials. It also ties to Digital Citizen because I tought a lesson of not trusting strangers through my world. Finally, it also ties to Global Collaborator because I shared my world on my website.
A challenge I overcame on this project was starting to code. I was able to do it by getting help, looking things up, and watching some tutorials. At home, I spent a good amount of time looking up tutorials and learning how to do things that I missed on the days I was gone. Doing this, I overcame the challenge of learning how to code on Delightex.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change some of my scenes. The reason why I would change it is because I took some inspiration from Maddie and based some scenes off of hers. Next time, I will hopefully miss less school and have enough time to come up with something more original.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia and Computer Programming CTE programs at Hastings High School. It connects to these because we had to use screens to access our worlds and we used programming to make them.
My project connects to careers in VR software engineers because I used VR and created a game with a lesson. Software engineers for VR create worlds you can access on VR, some of which have lessons. In this project, I created a game on VR with a lesson in a similar way I imagine a software engineer would.
