Using Imovie computer.ipad.legos.imotion, I created stopwatch lego vacation video because it was cool and there was a lot more choices.
I used iMovie, a computer, an iPad, Legos, and the iMotion app to make a stop-motion Lego vacation video. I thought it would be fun and creative, and I liked how many options I had for editing and making the story look better. It gave me a lot of freedom to mess around and make something cool.
During this process, I learned how to use the stop watch system and cheat methods to get more minutes 😄.
At first, I didn’t really get how the stop-motion timing worked, but then I figured out how to stretch the scenes using a stopwatch trick. I even found a few little “cheat” methods to get more screen time and make the clips feel longer without filming forever, which helped a lot.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Creative communicator because i made a video with legos.
This project definitely connects to being a Creative Communicator because I used Legos to tell a story. Even though it wasn’t words, I used images and movement to communicate what was happening, and editing in iMovie helped make it all clear and fun to watch.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the order of images kept getting messed up. I was able to do it by cutting and reordering them in imovie.
When I was importing the pictures, they kept getting scrambled, and my scenes weren’t making sense. I had to go into iMovie, trim some clips, and drag them into the right order. It took a little while, but once I fixed it, the video finally played out how I wanted it.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the scene. The reason why I would change it is because I didn’t really like the terrain.
The background and setting I picked was kind of boring. If I did it again, I’d build a better Lego world or maybe add more color and details to make the scenes stand out more. The terrain just didn’t fit what I had in my head.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the digital multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School.
I was working with video editing, storyboarding, and using different kinds of media to create content, which is exactly what the Digital Multimedia program is about. This project fits into that perfectly.
My project connects to careers in youtube because I created content and I used to watch this stuff in 3rd grade art class 😄.
I used to love watching stop-motion Lego videos on YouTube when I was younger, especially during art class. Now I got to make one myself. That’s literally what YouTubers and content creators do—come up with an idea, film it, and put it all together to share with others.
