Using cardboard and a lot of Popsicle sticks, I created a doll house because it was my favorite idea from my list of ten. We chose the doll house after thinking over what we thought we liked more and was relativity simple. Turns out it was gonna be a 2 project long one but I wouldn't change what we picked.
During this process, I learned many things, such as hot glue hurts. We also learned a bunch of new ways to do things, like different ways to cut Popsicle sticks. Those are simple things but I also learned how to bounce back into a project after being gone for an extended amount of time.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I was able to have a deliberate design process when choosing how to do my project. I was also able to show perseverance by even after I was sick and couldn't work on it, I still got it to the point I wanted it at in time.
A challenge I overcame on this project was being absent for so long. I was able to do it by putting in 200% effort to try and get things done. I did this because I wanted it to be done by the original due date.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the extra small details. The reason why I would change it is because it took a long time. Which the details came out good, but I was stressed out due to the lack of time.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Construction Trades CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in Construction trades because I built a mini house. Now this may have been with card board and glue but it has helped with understanding size and structure. Knowing that can help me get jobs such as a Builder (around 50,000 per year), another job is an electrician, who make 50,000 to 80,000 a year.
