Planning Questions!
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
In a team.
What materials will you need for your project?
Embroidery Machine, a shirt, and an idea.
What is your plan to create in this project?
Matching shirts with Sydney!
What unique qualities will your project have?
It's our own idea that we put on a shirt.
Day 1
Today we had a lady come down and show us how to do some things on the machine. She taught us how to thread,
Day 2
Today the lady didn't come so we messed with the controls and were able to figure out some!
Day 3
Today we tried to actually embroid on our own
Day 4
Today the lady came back and showed us a few more things with setting the machine up.
Day 5
Today we tried our idea! Class of 2028 shirts, we got through Class of 2
Day 6
Today the lady showed back up and helped us with some last things.
Day 7
Today another person did there project and we learned about some more stablizer.
Day 8
Today Sydney did hers because she will be gone the rest of the time! It went wrong! We embroidered the shirt together.
Today I started embroidering onto my shirt, I got through Class Of 20 so were just finishing the last two letters tomorrow
Today I finished embroidering my design to my shirt, and after that I worked on my website, Pictures, reflection, and the rest of that fun stuff.
Using an embroidery machine, I created matchinng tshirts with Sydney because this was something we both thought was cool. As well as embroidery being cool it was also really great to learn! Learning about embroidery has helped us gain a landfill of new knowledge.
During this process, I learned things as simple as how to work the machine. But others like how to import design and thread the machine. Other things we got to learn about were, everything to due with stabilizer, things like how to thread the bobbin, and so much more.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Computational thinker because I was able to overcome problems. I was also able to find and identify the most important part of the problem. Then using the information from those skills I was able to fix the problem using the resources around me.
A challenge I overcame on this project was simply not knowing anything about embroidery. I was able to do it by putting in effort to actually understand what was going on. There were things that went wrong and there were things I was able to accomplish quite easily.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the actually shirt I chose. The reason why I would change it is because I chose a full length long sleeves. There was quite a bit of fabric and after Sydney's shirt was ruined I made sure the back of mine didn't get sewn. It ended up getting sewn down a little in the corner but overall it was better than I thought.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Digital Multimedia CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in digital multimedia because I created a design. This creates a good start with jobs such as an animator, they make around 50 thousand to 100 thousand. It also helps with other jobs such as digital graphic artists, and they make around 20 thousand to around 70 thousand.
