Are you working by yourself or with a team?
I will be working by myself or these projects.
What materials will you need for your project?
For these projects, all I will need is a MakeyMakey, and some cords that attach to it.
What is your plan to create in this project?
For these projects, I plan to make an auto-clicker, and a light show.
What unique qualities will your project have?
My projects will be unique because I want to figure out how to make these contraptions myself, without using outside resources to guide me.
Using a MakeyMakey, a small electronic device, I created both an auto-clicker and a dazzling light show. I made these two contraptions because they seemed simple. I wanted to figure out how to make these two devices on my own, without any outside help like classmates or tutorials.
During this process, I learned about inputs and outputs. The MakeyMakey works by connecting multiple wires to various outputs, and receiving inputs. This was hard to grasp at first, but once I figured out what everything does,
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My projects tie into Innovative Designer. This would be because Innovative Designer is all about following a design process, and creating new and innovative designs for already-existing inventions.
A challenge I overcame on these projects was, once again, time. I was really limited on time for these projects. I was able to overcome this hurdle spending my lunch period and my weekend working on my projects to get it done by the deadline.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the amount of time given to work on these projects. I feel I was not given enough time to make something a bit more challenging. I also feel that this would not only benefit me, but all my classmates as well.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My projects connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in controller building and designing. This would be because, to code a MakeyMakey, you need to know where and how to connect certain wires and cables, and what they all do. This uses very similar skills to those involved in controller designing.
For my first project, I will be making an auto-clicker. An auto clicker is a program that makes your cursor click very rapidly.
Here is a video demonstrating how the auto-clicker works and how to use it.
For my second project, I will be making a Light Show. I will be doing this be making the lights of the MakeyMakey on and off repeatedly.
Here is a short video demonstrating how to operate the dazzling light show.
