I will need cardboard, straws, and paper.
What is your plan to create in this project?
A parrot with moveable arms and a tail.
What unique qualities will your project have?
The ability to move its limbs.
On day 1 we brainstormed what to make, what features we'd add, and how to make it.
On day two we sketched a design of what we'd make on our planning paper
day three we started creating our projects using our materials and coming up with ideas as we went along
The next day we created limbs for the bird.
On our final day of creation we finished attaching everything and gave him his rightful crown
We created a parrot. It has a tail, a crown, eyes, limbs, and a beak.
Reflections

Using cardboard, tape, hot glue, and sharpie, we effectively created a model of our creation. We created the bird because it had not been created by other students before, and because it would be a fun challenge creating something like this out of cardboard. That is how and why we made this project.
During this process I learned that creations often look very different compared to the original planning. An example of this is how we originally had a top-hat planned for the bird but instead we made a crown. That is what I learned, and how I learned it.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative designer, this is true because as I built it, I thought of new ways to make it better.
A challenge I overcame was when we made it way bigger than we imagined making it so that we couldn't do the legs how we wanted. I solved this by using popsicle sticks instead. That is a problem I encountered and how I solved it.
Given a chance to do this project again I would make it smaller so that i could have more details and use more features. this way I could hone in on the quality for my project. That's what I'd change about my project doing it again.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the construction trades because I created a physical product to produce. That is the CTE I connected to.
My project connects to careers in factory production because I worked on a product made by hand to present. that is my career connection for this project.
