Q. Am I working by myself or in a team?
A. I will be working alone.
Q. What materials do I need for this project?
A. I will need an iPad, access to the internet, the iMovie app, and non-copyright images.
Q. What is your plan to create in this project?
A. I will decide what to make my video about, then I will find non-copyrighted images and put them in iMovie to make a 30-60 second video.
Q. What are the unique qualities of your project?
A. My video will be unique because it will be about my family.
I created a page on my website dedicated to my video project, I answered my planning questions and made a list of 10.
I found images for my video and began putting it together with iMovie.
Continued to make my movie about my family.
Day 4
Finished putting pictures on my video and started my voice over.
I was absent.
Finished my voice over and exported my iMovie onto Google Drive.
Day 7
Finished my website and turned my project in.
I used the app, iMovie, to create a video about my family. First, I had to decide what I was going to make my video about, I found that doing this project last year helped me have good idea of what I wanted to create. Next, after I decided to make a video about my family, I found images of large families and chose one that best fit. On iMovie I edited titles to label my family members, and the lengths of the clips to make a minute long video. After I was satisfied with the visual of my video I made a voice over to explain each of my images, this took a few tries because I did not make a script.
Since I have done this project before it went relatively smoothly but I did learn a few new things. What I learned throughout this project was how to make titles on iMovie the right size on the right clip. Last year I did not put very many titles on my pictures so this was new for me. I also learned that the app won't allow you to put more than one title on one clip so I had to make multiple clips of the same picture. I also learned that when doing a voice over, a microphone is the best way to record your commentation.
Of the 7 Class Standards Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project best aligns with being a Digital Citizen. This is because I used images online that I got without copyright. I was also very careful when I used the app iMovie, seeing as I share an iPad with other students I did not want to take up to much storage space, this was me using netiquette. Although I did not get any information from a website for information, my project still used a lot of other online tools.
A challenge that I had to work through during this project was finding the right image for my family. It was a problem for me because I could not find an image with no faces, and with the right amount of people. I did find an image that fitted well but had 2 extra people. I edited my images to exclude those two extras and make the image the right size. Throughout the video I had to do that to all my images so it shifts slightly from image to image, but I think it was still a good solve.
If I had the chance to do this exact project of my family again I would make my images longer and explain more about my family. I was only able to say their names and how they were related to me, I wish I had more time to say the cool things they do. Doing this project last year allowed me more knowledge of what I wanted to see in my video, so other than the voice over I am happy with my first project.
