A. To create this project I will lay out my 6 scenes, then I will complete each scene on https://cospaces.io/edu/, working scene by scene.
Q. What are the unique qualities of your project?
A. The unique qualities of my project will be that there are detailed scenes with multiple treasure eggs.
Day 1
Began working on my website and thinking of ideas for my scenes. Explored the other projects on https://cospaces.io/edu/
Day 2
Finished my planning stage for the merge cube scenes. Logged into https://cospaces.io/edu/ and began working on my first scene.
Day 3
Started contructing scene 1 of my augmented reality story.
Day 4
Continued my work on scene 1
Day 5
I finished scene two and now knowing what to do started working on scene 2.
Day 6
Scene 2 went much faster, finished scene 2 and worked on 3 and 4 at home.
Day 7
Ran into some trouble with the placements but fixed it and finished scene 4 and 5.
Day 8
Finished working on my merge cube, recorded my scenes, and updated my website.
Worked on my website and turned in my augmented reality project.
To make my augmented reality, I needed to use my computer to access the https://cospaces.io/edu/ website. I used this to design my scenes of my merge cube. I also needed a merge cube, this is what I used in the final stage of my project when I recorded my story. I also needed my iPad to record the merge cube. In my project I also needed to use a microphone for my voice over. I also needed the app iMovie on my iPad so that I could edit my video.
At the beginning of this school year I was very excited about making the augmented reality on a merge cube. I was excited because I wanted to learn more about this kind of coding and design. Some things that I learned are that, the designers of https://cospaces.io/edu/ are a genius, this is because of all the amazing features that are on the website. I also learned that when making an augmented reality and a virtual reality are similar but not the same, in an augmented reality you have to code something and it shows branching of another image, where as in virtual reality you have images that are added to the scene but they are more independent.
Of the 7 standards that Michigan Integrated Technology Competencies for Students has set (Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator) My project ties to Empowered Learner. I chose this M.I.T.C.S. because I did something that I had no idea how to do and I still was able to be successful at it. I made a goal of creating a story of two rabbits escaping a hungry fox, I wrote this down and looked at it multiple times during my project. I asked all sorts of questions to my peers and teachers. This project was online so I used the website https://cospaces.io/edu/'s tools complete this project. Finally, there were some times where it was difficult to work because of the view that the screen had of the cube but I readjusted it to make it easier to work.
I loved doing this project and given that the obstacles did not seem so big because of how much fun it was to create. However, reflected on it I see that time itself was an obstacle, I had rush almost every day to get anything done. I realized that this shouldn't be the way I worked on my project so I slowed down and payed attention to detail but still worked at home to make up for lost time. I really should have payed more attention at the start when the https://cospaces.io/edu/ gave me directions on how to work my settings because I was often stuck not being able to zoom into the right thing. I fixed this by using my peers to help me figure out the correct function.
Given a chance to do this again I wouldn't do much different, I might explore some other stories to make and not just use nature related characters. I would really have liked to do this more often because making this project I can see some things that did not go so well and some things that I made more difficult for myself. Finally, I would want viewers to be more interested in my augmented reality so I would add more Easter eggs so they could hunt for them more.
The Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Computer Programming in the CTE program at Hastings High School. My project also ties to the careers in the augmented reality business such as growing companies.
