Design Thinking is a thing that includes 5 steps.
The 1st step is Empathize and the purpose of that step is to conduct interviews about what people really care about. For an example if you think of old people that have trouble with walking you might want to interview them about how they get around and empathize how they do it with them. Then later on in the interview you might want to ask them deeper questions like about a time that it got difficult for them. For example if they were to fall down or something. Next you would want to repeat the step with other people who face the same fate.
The 2nd step is Define The Problem in that you would look at the things and needs the people in your interview are trying to fulfill with certain activities. One way to do that is to underline the verbs or activities that they do like going for a walk, eating dinner or maybe even going grocery shopping at a store. In some cases you might realize its not about going out but maybe about staying in and staying in touch. After the analysis try to form a problem statement, some people are afraid to be lonely they want to stay connected.
The 3rd step is Ideate, in this step you try not to make just one solution but many ideas like making a nice new virtual reality set or making hover boards that work with seiners that may have trouble walking. whatever you are doing show it to the people you are trying to help and get there opinion.
The 4th step is making a prototype, a prototype is small less produced version of your idea. For example if you were going to make a new virtual reality headset you would want to make one of them first so you could see if it works.
The 5th and final step is Test, in this step you test your prototype then after you test it and make sure it works make sure it works how you want it to and make sure it will work on whatever you made the thing on. For example if you were to make a new virtual reality headset you would want to make sure it works and can adjust to anyone's head. You might also want to make sure your product looks good because people might not want it if it looks bad.
In my opinion design thinking is finding out what people want, making multiple ideas of them, making a testing object of it and then testing it and making a release date.
