Are you working by yourself or in a team?
myself, as it is required for the project.
What materials will you need for your project?
micro: bit, batteries, computer.
What is your plan to create in this project?
my plan is to make multiple small projects or one big project that are unique, fun or cute.
What unique qualities will your project have to separate it from other peoples’ projects?
I'll try to make projects that haven't been thought of or made by others.
Day one
I started my project by researching (looking at previous students projects) and creating my list of ten ideas.
Day two
I learned how to use code, and used a website to make my micro:bit show my name.
Day three
I figured out how to make it so that when I press buttons, the code will change. Today I also made P3T (version one), where it'll constantly "blink" until the buttons are pressed, causing a heart pop up while you "pet" it .
Day four
I finished my project on P3T. you're able to interact with him by pressing button A, B, A and B and shaking them. Each interaction has a different outcome as seen in the video above.
Day five
today I just wanted to make something small and simple, so I made a love meter. If you shake the meter, It'll chose a random number from zero to a hundred. But, if you press "A," It'll always show a hundred and if you press "B" It'll always show zero.
Day six
Today I made a more simple version of "P3T," and this time it has different eyes and regardless of which button you press, It'll "sing." He also has a different reaction from shaking the micro: bit.
extra ( Day six )
I made a step counter that would go up by one for each time it got shaken, I also made it so that way I'd reset if you pressed button "B"
Day seven
today me and my friend, winter, made it so that way images and messages appear once certain buttons are pressed through the radio feature.
Using A computer, coding website and a Micro:Bit, I created multiple projects using code because it was very fun to learn how to make images appear once certain things happened or when certain things didn't happen.
During this process, I learned how to code more things then what I already knew and how to use Micro:Bits.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to digital citizen because I used my technology correctly and safely, I treated the Micro:Bit with respect, knowing that it doesn't belong to me.
A challenge I overcame on this project was coming up with more ideas for projects. I was able to overcome this by asking friends for recommendations, reflecting back to my list, and looking at other students work.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the "singing P3T". The reason why I would change it is because it's too simple, from its functions to it's design. It's too boring for me personally.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the knowledge constructor CTE program at Hastings High School
My project connects to careers in User experience design because being a User experience designer means to develop websites or other digital programming meant to satisfy the user ( or viewer ). This connects to my project because I wanted to have all my projects to have many functions and work well, I also wanted to make the product enjoyable.
