planning questions
Will I be working alone or with others?
I will be working with two other people.
What materials will I need for your project?
I will need to use cardboard, hot glue, and scissors.
What is my plan to create in this project?
I want to make a cardboard piano.
What unique qualities will my project have to separate it from other peoples’ projects?
me and my team are going to try and make a keyboard that has unique features, and is very detailed.
I made a page for my website, than began researching for things that I could make.
Me and my group (consisting of Myla, and Abigail), and created our sketch for our design, showing what we are going to make, and the measurements for it.
Me and my group began to start making the project, getting cardboard and hot glue to start. We made the basic shape for the base, and started to cut out the keys and doodles we wanted to add.
Me and my group finished the base and added the keys, although, I'm slightly disappointed, as the keys lay on uneven positions.
Me and my group have added more drawings, hot gluing some drawings we've made, and also drawing on it with markers. We've been adding small details from here.
We have finished our project. We added the final drawings and details that we wanted to add, and I'm personally some-what proud of our project.
today we recorded our video (underneath this), and uploaded each of our videos on here, putting an end to our project.
me and our team are very happy and proud of our project, with little critiques
Using hot glue, cardboard and markers, me and my team created a piano because we all like music and thought that we would enjoy making this, as it's simple but no one else was going to do it.
During this process, I learned that not all the drawings and keys needed to be perfect for us to enjoy what we made.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because me and my team made a plan for what we wanted to make, including our rough estimations for how large we want each piece.
A challenge I overcame on this project was getting materials early. I was able to do it by finishing the work I needed to do beforehand so we could get all the materials we'd need before others could.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the keys and their position. The reason why I would change it is because me and my team weren't fast enough to get scissors, so we had to use a cardboard cutter that was difficult to use, making the keys sides jagged. The keys were done by my team members, meaning they didn't come out like how I wanted, they were different sizes and placed uneven.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers such as design engineering because I help design a product and create it. A design engineer will create ideas for products and look at errors or mistakes, so that's why it connects to my project.
