Code for my robot to go throughout the maze.
Using a Sphero, I was able to create a code for the Sphero to go through a maze because I wanted to do a project that would take more time for me to create and that would have me to actually really have to think about the certain codes and that I wouldn't just be able to finish in the span of two days.
During this process, I learned to code a robot better and how to get it through difficult obstacles throughout the mazes and to overcome bumps that occurred. I also learned how to make better codes in order for the robot go through more difficult obstacles.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner because I took the time to think through my project and took the time to figure out certain codes for my Sphero to go through the maze.
A challenge I overcame was having the bumps or uneven spots throughout the maze board because when my robot would hit one of these spots it would throw my robot off course so then I would need to fix the coding and figure out which ones would overcome these spots. I overcame that by finding the certain codes that would be able to make it past each little bump and wouldn't make my robot go off course.
If I were to be given a chance to do this again, I would probably go through one of the longer parts of the maze and make it more difficult for my robot to go through, or have my robot go through a different, more difficult maze.. The reason I would do this would be to make it even more difficult and to test out my coding abilities and just to try new things with coding robots especially through more challenging things.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in engineering design because I had to think about how I wanted to create this project and I had to create different codes for each turn or bump.
