Of the scarf
Reflection:
Using two peices of fabric, one being a snakeskin styled fabric from JOANN's , the other being a more generic black one. And with the adition of a sewing machine, including a eletronic screen. I have created a scarf, a combonation of the snakeskin styled fabric from JOANN's and the more generic black fabric. I made this luxorious scarf that has a certain look added via the snakeskin styled fabric from JOANN's. I created this scarf because I wanted to test myself by going out of my comfort zone and making a luxorious scarf made out of fine, and rather interesting fabric. instead of doing somthing more in tune with what I am used to, that being using computers and such. Because instead of not learning something new and exciting, I decided to do what I am not used to and explore what else is possible for what I could do.
During this process, I learned How to use the sewing machine, and a good chunk of the features it had. While I used a good amount of them I did not, However use all of them. This is likely due to them being used for embroidery supposedly, and as I was not embroidering I had no use for them. I have also learned how to make a scarf out of two unique fabrics that were specificly chosen by me, in order to give of the certain feeling I was looking for.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative designer because I choose what fabrics to choose from, now as there were so many options to choose from, I had to make a some hard decisions. Whether I should use these two fabrics or these pair two fabrics. But I choose to use this set of fabric, a black one and a fabric designed to look like snakeskin from JOANN's.
A challenge I overcame on this project was that before I was going to fill the scarf with stuffing to make it extra warm, I had discovered something terrible. I had discovered that, I made a mistake. I had acidentally missed a spot when sewing. I was able to fix it by quickly turning the scarf inside out again, and swiftly moving the part of the fabric with a hole in it to the sewing machines needle. I then steadily held the fabric, as the sewing machine slowly sewed the hole shut. On the scarf with snakeskin styled fabric from JOANN's.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the black material. The reason why I would change it is because it was not as fluffy as I could I have made it, I was choosing the materials in a haste. As to not waste too much time. As I had spenty two days researching sewing.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School.
My project connects to careers in which you use a sewing machine to sew favric together. Or alternativly a job of choosing how to make a fabric based design. Like wther to use black fabric, or to use snakeskin styled fabric from JOANN's because I used a sewing machine and because I had chosen which fabric to use.
