Using cardboard , I created a skeet ball machine ,because our group thought it would be fun to make and fun to play. It took five pieces of large cardboard slabs, nearly 12 cardboard screws, multiple strands of tape, and for the balls we used 12 Reynolds wrap tin foil balls. My group partners were Spencer, Garrett, and Reese with our powers combined we were unstoppable. The project took five days to build and a day to test which is over a week to build a school week that is.
During this process, I learned for as strong as cardboard is it isn't unbreakable. On day three our project must've been stepped on because it was broken when we went to go get building on our project it was broken crushed we were not pleased. one other way I learned cardboard isn't unbreakable is when we were working and i accidentally tore our project i was holding it steady and accidentally tore it. Those are how I learned during this process that cardboard isn't unbreakable.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to innovative designer because I am using cardboard to create a game My group was using our innovation to design a game. other class standards this could fall under are creative communicator because we had to communicate to each other more creatively than ever before.
A challenge I overcame on this project was that tape and cardboard screws are not going to hold our project. I was able to do it by using support boxes and hot glue. The hot glue caused a new problem in the fact that we had a few burns. one of our members cut thyself with scissors.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change is the amount of days we would have to work on the project. The reason why I would change it is because my group had barely any time to do the project. secondly we had four minutes to make twelfth balls. as well our group only had on day to attach our platforms and supports. lastly we had one day to fix up any issues we had.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the construction trades CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in game design, and arcade design. the reason our project connects to game design is because skee ball is a game and we designed that game. the reason our project connects to arcade design because skee ball is an arcade machine so our project connects to arcade design.
