Using my PC and a Micro:bit, I created a game called Tug‑Of‑LED,And Flappy Bird. I chose this game because it looked like the best one to make. It was challenging to create, which made it interesting. It was also fun to play after I finished making it.
During this process, I learned that you have to be careful with how you put your code blocks together. Even a small mistake can cause the program not to work. I learned that debugging is important when coding. This helped me become more patient and careful.
The seven standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project connects the most to Digital Citizen. I used technology like my PC and Micro:bit to make the game. I also used the internet to help me learn how to code Tug‑Of‑LED.
A challenge I overcame in this project was doing something that was hard to code. At first, it was difficult to understand how everything worked. I solved this by working slowly and practicing harder parts. I also watched videos to help me understand the code.
If I had the chance to do this project again, I would change how many mini codes I made. I created too many small codes during the project. This took more time than I expected. I wish I had done fewer so I could try other types of code.
Hastings High School’s Career and Technical Education Program offers many pathways. These include Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects most to the Computer Programming CTE program. Coding the Micro:bit game relates directly to computer programming skills.
My project also connects to careers such as Mobile App Developer. Mobile app developers have to code in order to create apps. This is similar to what I did when I coded my game. Making games on the Micro: bit helped me practice those skills.
