Planning Questions
Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I will be working with a team
What materials will you need for your project?
my iPad and my Computer and my hands
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to make a 3D Printer
What unique qualities will your project have?
nobody is doing the same thing as me.
we started to get everything out the box and put it on the table. Then we started to dp the first part of building the 3D Printer
We continued on the printer. we added the z axis motors to the base plate. We also added screws into the plate.
Today we added the base with the motors to another base. We also added screws to secure both of the bases together. This is comming so far
Today we moved on to the next chapter of the assembly. We started working with some electronic parts. We made the parts that are in the picture today.
Today we added the electronic parts we made yesterday to the base we made. We also added some fans onto the base. It doesn't look like a 3d printer yet
Today we added the electronic base to the actual base of the 3d printer. We added some corners to the base that made it more sturdy. We also tightened the zip ties that held cords.
i switched groups and they didnt send me the picture for day 7
started to make the heat plate
stated to make the metal plate that holds the heat bed
we added some led lights but we ran into a problem with the tape
we finished the heat bed on the motor and moved it down
we started to add clamps to the printer
Put the motor plate together
Put the pully guides and tensioners.
we added the belts to the top of it
we put the printer head on and did more wiring
we made the motor
we added the motor to the top of the printer with the belts
Worked on wiring for the printer head.
Put together more of the printer head and worked on getting ready to put in the camera.
Assembled the filiment sensor and put the top part if the frame one.
Finished wiring an put the back panel on to hide the wires.
Put all the plexi glass and sides on.
Started our first print and fixed the load and unloading filiment problem.
we have finished the 3D printer
Using my iPad, PC, and tools from the toolbox, I created a 3D printer with my friends. We volunteered to do this project because we thought it would be both challenging and fun. Building something from scratch made the experience exciting and motivating. Overall, it felt really cool to make a working 3D printer ourselves.
During this process, I learned that you cannot make many mistakes because even a small error can throw the whole project off. If something goes wrong, you often have to go all the way back to fix it. This taught me to slow down and pay close attention to details. It also showed me how important patience is in hands‑on projects.
The seven class standards are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project connects most to the Global Collaborator standard. We chose to upload all the work we did to a website that anyone in the world can access. Sharing our progress globally taught me how projects can reach beyond the classroom.
A challenge I overcame during this project was being scared to build things. I worried that if I messed up, I might ruin the whole project for my group. Eventually, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and tried anyway. Doing that helped me realize that mistakes are part of learning, and trying is better than holding back.
If I had the chance to do this project again, I would fix all the mistakes I made early on. Those errors took extra time to correct and slowed down our progress. Changing them would have allowed us to finish sooner. It also would have made the whole process feel more smooth and organized.
Hastings High School’s Career and Technical Education Program offers programs like Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, and Marketing. My project connects to the Engineering Design program. This program focuses on building, problem‑solving, and understanding how things work. Those skills are exactly what we used while creating the 3D printer.
My project also connects to careers in Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical engineers design and build machines, tools, and devices. They work with technology similar to 3D printers, game consoles, and other electronics. This project helped me understand the type of work they do and why it matters.
Using Microsoft 365 Copilot I was able to bulk my paragraphs a little (3-9-26)
