Day 1
We started by getting the supplies we need and decided we wanted to build a sky crane.
Day 2
Finished getting the base done and now we will work on the top tommorow.
Day 3
We started to work on the crane moving we will finish it tomorrow most likely but we got most of it done today.
Day 4
We finished most of the crane/ wrecking ball. Tommorow we will add the last little touches to make it better.
We started to make liitle bricks to knock over. Tommorow should be our last day working on our project.
Finished our project. We made walls to knock over and every one you knock over you get one point. I had fun making this project.
I just worked on finishing my website so I don't have a picture. I am excited to do the next project. Some things I did was reflection and putting the video in the website.
Reflection:
Using cardboard, hot glue, iPad, and cardboard scissors. I created a crane or wrecking ball because I thought it would be cool to have something move. We also thought about making a vending machine but we thought that would be to hard and time consuming to build.
During this process, I learned that you can make a lot out of cardboard. Another thing I learned was card board is challenging to build out of. You can also find multiple things that will be a challenge to overcome. Finally, I learned it takes a whole team to finish a project.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative Designer because I designed something and figured out how to make it. I know this because Innovative and designer means you create or build something. In our cardboard creations we built something.
A challenge I overcame on this project was making the crane or wrecking ball move. I was able to do it by thinking and getting a plastic screw to make it turn. Another challenge we had to figure out was the weight. We had a problem were it was to heavy in one spot so we had to level it out.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the whole project. The reason why I would change it is because I would want to make something different every time. Another thing I would change would be the base of the project. I felt like it did not look like a sky crane or wrecking ball.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the Construction trades CTE program at Hastings High School. My project connects to careers in product designer. I know this because we created something from scratch and figured out a way to build it. This is why I thought it connects to product designer.
