Day 1:
I made a page on my website and printed out images. I also watched how-to videos.
Day 2:
I learned how to use the button maker. I tried to make a button but it didn't work as the design had to much excess. I then had to re-watch the videos on how to properly cut the paper.
Day 3:
I made a button with a color guard figure. I then made 3 more buttons.
Day 4:
I made a video of my project and started writing my reflection.
Day 5:
I finished writing my reflection and added my photos and video to my website. I also finished writing my daily logs.
Video:
Using a computer, photos, a printer, and button maker, I created 4 buttons because I wanted to make buttons for Fathers Day and Mothers Day. I made best mom and dad pins for them to wear on their special day. I made 2 other pins for fun. These pins had my schools logo and a color guard figure.
During this process, I learned how to create buttons. I also learned the technique of cutting out the design properly. I also had to learn what size my photos needed to be before printing them out.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to empowered learner because I learned how to use the button maker correctly.
A challenge I overcame on this project was trying to make the buttons work. The buttons did not stick to the base. I was able to do it by making my prints smaller and getting rid of all the excess paper around the edges.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the buttons I made. The reason why I would change it is because I could make pins for school elections, fundraisers, or parties. I could also make buttons with my friends names on them.
Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing. My project connects to the engineering design CTE program at Hastings High School. This because I designed buttons using stock images on the internet.
My project connects to careers in button making and installing because my project used a button maker. I also had to find copyright free images to put onto the buttons. My project also ties into engineering because I created buttons using a machine.
