Day 1:
Made a page on my website for the project.
Day 2:
Found a pattern of what I want to sew.
Day 3:
I watched tutorials on YouTube on how to make a baby sensory tag blanket.
Day 4:
I collected the fabric I wated to use. I cut started sewing the blanket together and added the ribbon.
Day 5:
I added plastic bags inside of the blanket to make a crinkle sound. I filled it with plastic bag scraps. I then made a cover for the scraps by cutting out a larger square.
Day 6:
I tried to sew the top fabric onto the bottom piece but the machine wasn't sewing. Every time I tried to sew the machine made a loud noise and the string would bunch up. I looked at the needle to see if it was bent, which it wasn't bent enough to cause a problem. I then realized the problem was in the bottom. I then had to have my teacher remove the bottom of the machine to try to fix it. I still couldn't finish sewing.
Day 7:
I wrote my reflection using the student rubric. I then tried to finish the blanket by sewing the top and bottom pieces of fabric together. The sewing machine was still broken and wouldn't work. I made sure the needle wasn't bent which it wasn't. I then tried to reset the machine but it still wouldn't work. I yet again checked the needle to make sure it wasn't bent.
Day 8:
I finished my reflection. I removed the ribbon I added before I sewed the top and bottom pieces of fabric together. I then made two ribbons and sewed the edges into the inside. I then added the ribbon tags to the blanket. Then I added

Reflection:
Using a sewing machine, needles, thread, fabric, and plastic bags, I created a baby tag blanket because I wanted to make something for my cousin who is due in May of 2024.
During this process, I learned how to use a sewing machine.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to "computational thinker" because I used technology to help me figure out how to use the machine. I watched videos, found templates, and asked others for help.
A challenge I overcame on this project was the machine breaking. I was able to do it by figuring what the problem was. I made sure it wasn't an easy fix like the needle being bent. I continued to search for the problem to find out it was the bottom of the machine.
Given a chance to do this again, I would change the type of stitch and fabric I used.. The reason why I would change it is because the fabric is not very soft. I would change the stitch to make it look a lot more clean looking. I used a simple straight stitch which took less time.
