REFLECTION

• Using a 3D printer, a computer, and "Tinker cad", I created a turtle phone holder because if you don't want to risk stepping on your phone, you can put it onto the turtle phone holder.

• During this process, I learned how to use and create a 3D printed object .

• The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Empowered Learner, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, and Computational Thinker because, like a Empowered Learner, I used my computer and 3D printer to achieve my goal of making a phone holder. Then, like a Knowledge Constructor, I used my computer to build my knowledge of 3d printing and made an interesting artifact, my turtle phone holder. Like an Innovative Designer, I tested and refined my 3D design for my design process. Lastly, like a Computational Thinker, I developed and thought of how it would work, by changing what parts I used, and how big the size is.

• A challenge I overcame on this project was learning how to 3d print. I was able to do it by being creative, and imagining the final product.

• Given a chance to do this again, I would make a turtle bowl. The reason why I would change it is because it would have balanced weight, and it would be very creative. The turtle phone holder is also too long of a name, so I would make something with a smaller name.

• Hastings High School Career and Technical Education Program offers Agriculture, Business Management, Computer Programming, Construction Trades, Culinary Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering Design, Finance, Insurance, Marketing.  My project connects to the CTE program at Hastings High School.  

• My project connects to careers in design, engineering , and manufacturing because here are 4 jobs for Design and engineering. .Firstly, as a 3D Designer/Model, they create the digital blueprints for 3D printing using software like SolidWorks or Fusion 360. Then, as a Mechanical Engineer you work with 3D printing for prototyping and supports engineering projects, often in a prototyping shop. Also, as an Additive Manufacturing Engineer you specialize in designing and developing 3D printing processes and integrating the technology into industrial applications. Lastly, as a Design and Development Engineer youfocus on the entire development process, from initial design to final product. My project also connects to Manufacturing and operations. Firstly, as a 3D Printer Operator, you run and monitor 3D printing equipment. Then, as a 3D Printer Technician, you operate, maintain, and troubleshoot 3D printing machines. As a  Post-Processing Technician, you handle the finishing and post-production of 3D printed parts. Lastly, as a Production Manager, you oversee the entire additive manufacturing process, from design to finished product.
