Your Questions Answered

How do I adopt a textbook for my course?

Sign into the Adoptions & Analytics Portal. Once logged in, select the correct term and year.

The home page will display any incomplete courses that require your attention. To add a title to a course (or to note that materials are not required), click the Fix button. You can also access your course list by selecting the Courses button on the left-hand side of the page.

Open a course and use the search box to enter a title or ISBN, or use the Course History section to select a title you've previously adopted.

Select Adopt, and if prompted, check New Only and Required. Complete these steps for each required title.

Once your titles are added to the course, select Next until you reach the preview screen. Once you've reviewed your course materials list, click Submit.

A confirmation page will appear stating Course Submitted! You can also use the guide located near the top of the page to ensure each step has been completed and your entry has been finalized.

Note that the digital format of a title will be automatically adopted if it's available through VitalSource.

What if I teach a continuation course?

If you teach a continuation course across two blocks that will have the same student enrollment and textbook, only adopt the textbook for the first of the two blocks.

Then, send Patty Kingsley (pkingsley@hastings.edu) a note so she can track enrollment and integration.

How do I delete a textbook from my course?

To delete course materials, sign into the Adoptions & Analytics Portal.

Select Courses located on the left-hand side of the page. Open a course to view the course detail page, along with your submitted adoptions.

Underneath the cover image of the title you wish to remove, click Delete.

What if my course doesn't require a textbook?

Action is still required even if your course does not use any course materials.

To note that a course does not use a textbook, sign into the Adoptions & Analytics Portal. Once logged in, select the correct term and year. Then, locate the desired course.

On the course details page, check Adoptions not Required, choose the appropriate note, and click Continue.

Select Next until you reach the preview screen. Once you've confirmed that no books are required for the course, click Submit.

A confirmation page will appear stating Course Submitted! You can also use the guide located near the top of the page to ensure each step has been completed and your entry has been finalized.
