Hastings College Department Scholarships

These scholarships are available to students who have been enrolled at Hastings College since Spring 2026. Scholarship criteria and deadlines identified in each scholarship.

2026-2027 Academic Year

• Dr. Gregory L. Plock Memorial Scholarship - Major in any area of Science, Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, be in your junior year of study during the 2026-2027 school year (earned 57 credits or more by the start of the Fall 2026 semester and not graduating until 2027-2028 academic year) and planning to apply to medical school.  Scholarship amount:  Will vary based on number of qualified applicants selected (Non-renewable). The award cannot exceed full tuition when combined with recipient's current Hastings College scholarships. Deadline: May 1, 2026

• Jo A. and Judith Beran Scholarship - Major in one of these areas: Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, be a senior status with declared graduation for May 2027. Must be a US citizen. Amount will be awarded to one recipient estimated: $2,500. This award cannot exceed full tuition when combined with recipient's current Hastings College scholarships. Deadline: May 1, 2026

• Excellence in Science Scholarship - Declared major in physics, mathematics or computer science.  Must be a junior or senior. with at least 57 credits earned before Fall 2026 with a 3.25 GPA. Amount will vary based on number of qualified applicants selected (Non-renewable). The award cannot exceed full tuition when combined with recipient's current Hastings College scholarships. Deadline: May 1, 2026

• Hal & Gretchen (Hollman) Lainson Memorial Scholarship - Major in English or History, must have between 27-56 credit hours completed at the start of Fall 2026 semester maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA. Amount will vary based on number of qualified applicants selected (Non-renewable). The award cannot exceed full tuition when combined with recipient's current Hastings College scholarships. Deadline: May 1, 2026

• Virginia Holyoke-McKeag Memorial Scholarship - Outstanding Senior with academic excellence in political science, Economics or Business Administration. Distinctive leadership on campus and extracurricular activities. Preference to student with commitment to law or public service. Amount will vary based on number of qualified applicants selected. The award cannot exceed full tuition when combined with recipient's current Hastings College scholarships. Deadline: Deadline: May 1, 2026

Outside of Hastings College Scholarships

• 2026/2027 Education Quest Scholarship - Scholarship amounts vary ($500-$3,500). Applicants must demonstrate financial need as defined by the FAFSA, a resident of Nebraska and US Citizenship.  Must be enrolled at least half time as an Undergraduate student.  Please be sure your 2026-2027 FAFSA is filed so that your eligibility can be confirmed.  Rolling deadline until all funding is awarded.

• Florence Turner Karlin Scholarship is awarding 6 renewable for one additional year if criteria are met, $2,000 scholarships.  Must be current college student who are former graduates of any HS in Nebraska. Pursuing degree in Education, have completed at least sophomore year with 3.0+ GPA.  Deadline: March 15, 2026

• American Red Cross Leaders Save Lives Scholarship Program offering scholarships by hosting a blood drive.  See link for more details.

• Quell Foundation - We believe that education is the key to understanding, supporting and generating awareness of the metal health challenges that millions of people face today.  Survivor Scholarship, First Responder Legacy Scholarship, Fighter Scholarship and Bridge the Gap Scholarship are scholarships the Quell foundation offer to current undergraduate/graduate students.  Application submissions March 6, 2026 - March 13, 2026 only.  

• Kaufmann-Cumming Foundation - This $1,000 scholarship was made possible by the Council of Independent Nebraska Colleges Foundation.  Recipient must be a legal resident of Nebraska, have financial need and must be in good academic and social standing with first priority to Hall County residents with a cumulative "B" academic average or higher.  Deadline:  March 27, 2026

• Extra Space Storage College Scholarship - Are offering eight $3,000 scholarships for the Fall 2026 year.  Must be enrolled full time and a legal resident of US.  Requires 500-800 word essay.  Opening April 1, 2026 closing May 31, 2026

• Nebraska Society of CPA's -150 Hour scholarship offered to Accounting Majors enrolled in the 150-hour program.  Must be planning to sit for the CPA exam and planning on spending the majority of your professional accounting career in Nebraska.  Letters of Recommendations are also highly recommended.  Please see either HCBusiness Department or Financial Aid for application.  Deadline:  April 10, 2026

• Headway's Book Lovers Scholarship is offering a $1,500 scholarship to support students fueled by their love to reading and dedicated to advancing their education.  Opening April 15, 2026 closing September 15, 2026

• E-waste Scholarship by Digital Responsibility is offering a $1,000 scholarship.  This scholarship helps you understand the impact of e-waste and what can be done to reduce e-waste.  Deadline:  April 30, 2026

• American Indian College Fund - is offering scholarships from $2,000-$3,000. See site for more information.  Deadline: May 31, 2026

• Native Forward Scholars Fund - Native American Tribal scholarships available.  See site for more information

• Blankstyle Scholarship offering $1,000 with application including how t-shirts have played a role in your life and how this scholarship will help accomplish your education goals.  Deadline:  May 31, 2026 and second round 12/31/2026

• Altruism and All Good Deeds Scholarship by NPVA is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students who participate in volunteer work and community service.  Deadline:  May 31, 2026

• Spokeo Artificial Intelligence is offering a $5,000 scholarship to the student with the top essay of 800-1.250 words plus two letters of recommendation.  Must be US citizen from any field of study.  Deadline: June 25, 2026

• Farm Credit Services of America Scholarship is offering eight $2,500 scholarships for students who are majoring in ANY ONE of the following:  Agriculture, Busienss (Finance, Accounting or Economics), Computer Science or Pre-Vet.  Preference will be given to students from Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, SD or Wyoming.  Students must have a 3.0 cumulative or higher GPA.  Deadline: July 1, 2026

• American Association of State Troopers Dependents of State Trooper members  Deadline:  July 31, 2026

• Michael Moody Fitness is offering a $1,500 scholarship for student pursuing a career and enrolled in the following majors:  Athletic Training, Health Policy, Psychology, Biology, Kinesiology, Nursing, Personal Training, PE Teaching and Coaching, Exercise Science, Sports and Rec Management, Health Sciences or another health related major.  Deadline:  August 1, 2026 or the first 1,000 applications.  

• Red Label Abrasives is offering a $500 scholarship to a full time US citizen maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or above Deadline: August 15, 2026

• Quivey-Bay State Foundation - This $1,153 scholarship was made possible by the Council of Independent Nebraska Colleges Foundation.  Recipient must be a legal resident of Nebraska from the Panhandle including: Banner, Box Butte, Cheyenne, Dawes, Deuel, Garden, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff, Sheridan and Sioux counties.  Student must currently have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher and in good academic and social standing. Deadline: August 15, 2026

• Attracting Excellence to Teaching-ST Program - This is a forgivable loan in the amount of $3,000 to students who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate teacher education program working toward their initial certificate to teach in Nebraska and are student teaching for the upcoming academic year.  For more information contact the Teacher Education Department at Hastings College or the AETP web site. 

• Don't Text and Drive - This $1,000 scholarship helps to understand the risks of texting while driving.  Deadline: Sept 30, 2026

• MManuts is pleased to offer the PRINT IT $1,000 scholarship for aspiring content creators.  Deadline: January 11, 2027

• TEACH grant Program provides grant funds to students that will teach full time for at least four years in a high-need field at a low income school or educational service agency.  For more information contact the Teacher Education Department at Hastings College and review this link. Candidates needs to have 60 credit hours before they can be admitted into Teacher Education program

• WIOA  (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) -https://www.dol.gov/agencies/eta/wioa  Providing services to Native American 's with career exploration and guidance, educational attainment, skills training all through Ponca Tribe of Nebraska.  Please contact Financial Aid for more information.
